Right out of the box it worked fine. It showed the depth in whole and tenths numbers, which I thought was nice. I went to a spot where I knew there was rocks and it showed them very clearly. For the money this unit does a nice job.
Fish finders are a great way to locate fish and the key to a great day. Going out fishing for the day can be a lot of fun.you are out with your friends talking and enjoying the day but no one is catching anything. you cruise around looking for another spot and think that if you had a fish finder there would not be a problem.
Chances are you have been on a party boat at one time and they are using a Furuno fish finder. The boat stops and everyone casts their line. Within a half hour the fish are being reeled in and everyone is excited and at the end of the day there is fish for everybody to take home. Now on your boat the only problem Fish Finders is you are fishing without a fish finder and you can spend a lot of time looking for fish.
I have been out numerous times over the years and did not catch anything. We would cruise around the lake in a small outboard boat or in the bay on a fifty five footer and look for other people fishing. We set up and dropped our lines and there is two or three fish caught but really not worth the whole day.
We looked into buying one and checked out the Hummingbird fish finders to see what they do and how it is done. There are four basic components which are the transmitter, receiver, transducer and display. An electrical impulse is initiated from the transmitter and converted to a sound wave into the water by the transducer. The sound wave strikes an object such as a fish or the floor of the body of water and it is bounced off the object toward the boat. The echo strikes the transducer which converts it into an electrical signal then processed and sent to the display and that is where the fish are.
Just remember when you are out fishing you can spend a lot of time searching for a good spot. Once you find that spot luck could be on your side but most likely the fish are not there. Fish finders will scan the water depth using sonar to locate and put you on the fish.

Super easy to use, just turn on. Unit picks out individual fish with its depth and size. Shows bottom structure in detail. Light weight, easy to transport. LCD display fairly clear in the bright sun. Could be easier to tilt up for moving across lake. Over all, functions well for the price.
I don’t have the cash or space to store a boat, but there are plenty of rentals around here. When I saw the “Fishin’ Buddy” I was really happy. This was exactly what I was looking for.
I was afraid that such an inexpensive product would underperform. I was not disappointed! The screen shows great detail, (on the 110) and when fish were marked, many times I got a bite!
I was afraid of going cheap on the 110. I love it! After using it twice this year so far, I couldn’t imagine fishing without it!
I had to buy a second one becuase the 1st one went with the boat when it sold and then I purchased the 2nd.
These fish finders work great, amazing clarity. Easy to find menu operations, it also works with my Garmin GPS, which is another added benefit. Screen is visible in all light. I also like to be able to identify the size of fish under the boat, whether it be herring balls or candle fish on the bottom, it’s all quite detailed. This also is the first fishfinder that I’ve owned that has water temperature, as I’ve learned the fish are particular about shade and water temperature. More fish in the boat because of it.
Good general purpose depth finder, we don’t fish much but we do travel narrow back water channels as well as uncharted water, its easy to read even in the bright Florida sun. easy install but it does require a bigger hole through transom than other brands, its very accurate in shallows and when cruising on plane. I would buy this again.
Only was able to use the depth finder for a few months at the end of season last year and was very happy with it. Worth the money.
I bought this depth finder not wanting to have to take a class on how to use one.Works well in auto. The unit was easy to mount and is very easy to remove when you park your boat.I like it so much I just ordered a 2nd one for the front of my boat. This unit also comes with the dual mount system for trolling motor or transom.Amazon has the best price and as usual the best service.I reccomend this.A good easy to use product without the pricey bells and whistles that are rarely used. Thanks Roy
Great Product for the price. Many features that are great for this model ( easy to operate & good graphics).Shipped on time & recieved it before the expected date .Straight out of the box to the boat on the water in a few minutes.
Only complaint is that Garmin has a big plug that has to have a 1″ hole to get it through for such a small cable. Can’t cut it & splice back together (factory says that it will void warranty & could mess up the graphics)
This fishfinder works well and is easy to read, even in bright sunlight. It gives reliable information at all boat speeds. The price I got the unit for was 20% cheaper than any of the local outlets. The only drawback is during installation. Due to the size of the electrical connector, to attach the transducer cord to the back of the fishfinder, it makes it fairly difficult to thread through the hull of the boat, but once in, the unit works fine.
I bought the Nor Cross HawkEye to use ice fishing. It will show if fish are in the area, but I could not tell how close the fish were. The depth finder works great. The see through the ice feature will not work unless you freeze the sensor to the ice. I would much rather use a flasher for ice fishing, but if you only use it as a depth finder it works great.
The unit was purchased mainly for ice fishing and it has performed well. Not very good in shallow water, but they tell you that. It will shut down in cold temps and you will have to warm it up. I really like the portability and ease of use. It will definitly help you catch more fish. No more drilling 100 holes trying to locate fish. I will use it this spring also on a small river I fish. Hopefully it will help me locate some nice walleye or smallmouth.
I finally got to use this now the lakes are unfrozen around here. I’ve gotten to use this in a river and on a few lakes now. It pick up the fish realy well in both it takes a little getting used to. The rock sensor comes on if there is anything solid under you, you have to figure if its a tree, big rock or something else. Weed sensor is pretty accurate also it will read even a tiny bit of weeds under you. The depth is very accurate also just can’t troll the sensor very fast or it will read sideways in the water. Only thing I wish this fish finder told you was the size of the fish. It picks up the fish you just have to figure out what it is. I was picking up everything from schools of fish to a lone fish in 19ft of water just couldn’t tell what they were had to catch them to see what they were. Thats the only reason I gave this 4 instead of 5 stars. It seems fairly durable as far as waterproof I’m not dipping it in the lake to find out it did get a few splashes from paddling on the kayak and still works perfectly. I like this finder cause you dont have to lug a big or buy and expensive battery for it and is very easy to carry with you. It is not a burden in my kayak this finder is perfect for anyone looking for a cheap and small model for a small boat.
I’ve only used the fishfinder once, but it performs as advertised. It gave an accurate depth reading, showed some debris (?) on the bottom and displayed an occasional fish. The instructions are pretty good, and it is easy enough to figure out how to set it up and use it. I did have one question. I phoned them, and their customer support person was outstandingly helpful. I only gave four stars because durability won’t be evident until I’ve used it a good bit. But I suspect it will be excellent.
